Frames

There are some important things in my life. It is around me or within myself; these are the driving force of my life and I feel I cannot be myself without them. When I feel tired, helpless, or depressed in my life, I can overcome these feelings by thinking about them. When I was in the negative feeling, I feel like Iʼm melting. The images that have lost the shape I originally had and melted are circulating in my head. What I need at this time is a 'frame' that will keep my original appearance again, and it is the driving force for me.

The concept of the frame I think is a hold-up device that holds a being to maintain its form and meaning, for example, fonts occupy their place on paper with ink and pixels in the screen. But without the original shape of the font, it simply disperses into ink and pixels.

When I was in a sense of helplessness and depression, I organised the things around me and my feelings that would help me find my frame and selected 10 of them.

I decided to create a typo model so that I could intuitively see the words while studying how to express them. Each mould contains water of blue ink. The inside of the mould with blue water is the amount of space occupied by this font, and the mould itself is a shape-keeping device that allows them to stay as ʻfontsʼ. I move it back to the measuring cylinders, where the water outside the frame is no longer a font, but a liquid that does not have meanings, just a few millilitres of volume.
