Pan and Scan

Pan & Scan is a kind of film term that refers to a method of adjusting (cutting) the size of the frame to fit the standard TV aspect ratio of 4:3 (1:1.33) for the films shot on a large screen or with anamorphic lens.

The idea started from the cut-off part got to be extended in this way: 1. something that was needed at the beginning, but excluded because it became unnecessary due to any reasons; 2. something that has the same physical properties but is discarded because the value is judged differently; 3. something that has a different shape inside and outside the fame.

This book contains a story about these things. On the left side of the book are the selected items, and on the right side are placed the excluded ones. It will give you a chance to think again about things that have been cut off and could be easily found in your daily life.
